Description
Pat Metheny, born in Lee's Summit, MO in 1954, started on trumpet at 8 and switched to guitar at 12, quickly joining top jazz musicians in Kansas City by age 15. Bursting onto the international jazz scene in 1974 with Gary Burton, he developed a signature style blending horn-like articulation with advanced rhythm and harmony. His 1975 debut Bright Size Life reinvented the jazz guitar sound, and throughout his career, Metheny has continued to push the boundaries of improvisation and sonic exploration.
